How do Jewish children and their educators think about big issues in the world? How do educators decide how – and if – big contemporary issues such as political polarization, climate change, and Israel should come into their Jewish classrooms and learning spaces? We will make use of data from an ongoing research project as we wrestle with these questions for ourselves and the communities we lead. Participants will know about a range of opinions and beliefs held by Jewish children and their educators. They will be able to articulate their own (perhaps previously only implicit) beliefs about the place of contemporary issues in their Jewish educational setting.
